ASAK
As we approach the end of another productive year, I want to take a moment to reflect on some of
the significant achievements we’ve accomplished together since our last AGM.
In April, we hosted a successful fundraising event that exceeded all our expectations. I extend my
heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended, donated, and supported this important cause. A
special note of appreciation goes to our Treasurer, Dr Arshad Bhat, who has been tirelessly
working behind the scenes. Every week, he dedicates countless hours to ensure that the money
is safely transferred to Kashmir, navigating the complexities and clearance process of
international transfers We have already transferred £50,000 to Hope and Health foundation.
We continue to build strong partnerships with healthcare institutions in Kashmir. I am proud to
share that, in collaboration with GMC Anantnag, BKMA successfully delivered a simulation
course on advanced paediatric life support. This would not have been possible without the
expertise and dedication of Dr Mehdi Hassan, Dr Yasir Rasheed, Dr Masood, and Dr Malla.
Furthermore, our commitment to palliative care in Kashmir and training of nursing staff is taking
shape under able guidance of Dr Roshan Ara Khuroo.
Under the leadership of Dr Yasir Rasheed, we remain committed to supporting the growing
number of doctors coming to the UK from valley of Kashmir. I call on all BKMA members to step
forward and assist us in delivering this vital support. I would like to extend my thanks to
Rakshanda Mackay for organizing and delivering comprehensive teaching sessions that cover all
aspects of the university application process for aspiring medical students.
BKMA Trust Board is in the process of developing strategies for the organisation for next 3 years
with active contributions from our members.
Thank you BKMA office and executive for your dedication and commitment. Despite your busy
jobs and family commitments, you have consistently given your time and energy to BKMA.
As we look ahead, I want to remind you that elections for all office-holder positions in BKMA will
be taking place in February-March. If you believe you have the skills, passion, and time to
contribute, I encourage you to consider running for a position. BKMA thrives on the dedication of
its members, and your involvement can help shape the future of this wonderful organization.
Finally, I look forward to seeing you all at our upcoming virtual AGM on December 3rd.
Warm regards,
Tafazul Hussain
President, BKMA
